Since we purchased CartThrob in July 2015, we’ve been working diligently to make it an even more useful tool for our customers. CartThrob was already the best ExpressionEngine eCommerce add-on, so our task was to make a great product even better. After we acquired CartThrob, ExpressionEngine released a major update—ExpressionEngine 3. As more and more sites began moving towards ExpressionEngine 3, we knew we needed to update CartThrob to support it. Today we are proud to announce the release of CartThrob 3, which offers full ExpressionEngine 3 compatibility along with a number of enhancements and bug fixes. All of the features our customers know and love about CartThrob 2 are still present in CartThrob 3.
With this release we're also making CartThrob more affordable, so there's no reason not to buy it. CartThrob's price has been lowered to just $249 -- an amazing value for a full-featured eCommerce platform. Because we know many people are still using ExpressionEngine 2, for a limited time when you buy CartThrob 3 you also will receive a free license to CartThrob 2. If you already own CartThrob 2 you can upgrade your license to CartThrob 3 for the reduced price of $125. And good news:
- If you purchased CartThrob 2 any time in 2016, you will receive CartThrob 3 for free. Just upgrade the license in your account area.

We're also releasing CartThrob 2.71 for ExpressionEngine 2 today, which incorporates the bug fixes and feature enhancements we've included in CartThrob 3.
We have worked extremely hard to improve CartThrob and are proud of the results. As the new owners of CartThrob we have not only placed a greater emphasis on product development, but we’ve also focused on support. This update is by no means the end of our work on CartThrob. We already have plans for more updates which will focus on bringing even more new features to the platform.
