Meet Lauren - project manager, elephant lover, and Belieber.
Born in Kansas City and growing up in Boca Raton, Florida, Lauren started working for Vector in January 2016. After working at a digital agency for the hospitality industry, she became part of Vector's Project Management team. I talked with Lauren about traveling, her dog Oaklee, and what she loves about working at Vector.
Q: Where did you go to school and what did you study?
A: Florida International University in North Miami for journalism.
Q: How has your role developed or changed since you started working here?
A: When I first started, I was working on smaller projects. Now, my role has grown into managing bigger projects - which I love. I’m pretty organized and I’m good at being bossy, so I think that helps.
Q: What types of projects do you find the most rewarding?
A: I prefer challenging projects, such as mobile apps. Any project that involves all of our branches (Development, Design, and Digital Maketing) - there are lots of moving pieces, that’s fun and exciting.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Vector?
A: The vibe is very casual, everyone is really responsible for themselves. The company trusts you to get things done while being flexible to your needs.
Q: What are some things you have noticed as you have watched and been part of Vector growing as a company?
A: When I started, I was the second project manager - now we have five. That’s a big growth for our team. In terms of process, we are always looking for ways to improve every day.
Q: Tell me about your dog!
A: I have a mini schanuzer named Oaklee who is on the website (Senior Associate Director, Pup-licity). He’s such a sweet cuddle buddy, and he’s also really smart. He knows a bunch of tricks - he can high five and shake (like when dogs get out of the bath) on command.
Q: If you were put in charge of the office playlist, what would it include?
A: Everyone makes fun of me because I love when Bieber is on, but I really like a lot of different music. I really like Chainsmokers, Lost Boy Crow, and anything that is kind of house-dancey.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: I’m big on traveling, so I’ve been to a lot of places. I would love to go to the South of France - I’m getting married soon, and that’s where I’m going for my honeymoon. South Africa is next.
Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
A: Chips. Chips are my biggest obsession ever. But NOT Kettle Chips.
Q: If you were in charge of planning Vector’s next employee event, what would you do?
A: I think we should go to the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Brooklyn - I have the best time every time I go!
Q: What are some other interesting things about yourself?
A: I speak Arabic, I have a shopping problem, and I love elephants! When I was in Thailand I even asked how much a baby elephant costs (around $27,000). I’ve also been writing a book for a long time, and eventually I’m hoping to publish it.
